What to expect

Compare the new size with the original and inspect the result. A smaller file can lose visible or audible detail, and already compressed inputs may not become much smaller.

PNG supports transparency and lossless image compression. Converting a JPG to PNG does not reverse earlier JPEG compression.

Limits to keep in mind

PNG stays lossless, so an already optimized file may shrink little or not at all.
