Before you start
The file picker accepts: .jpg, .jpeg, image/jpeg. The contents and encoding of the file must also be supported; an extension alone does not guarantee compatibility.
The download uses the .jpg extension. Keep the source until you have checked the result.

What to expect
Compare the new size with the original and inspect the result. A smaller file can lose visible or audible detail, and already compressed inputs may not become much smaller.
JPG does not preserve transparent areas. Check the background and fine edges after conversion.

Limits to keep in mind
JPEG compression is lossy and repeated recompression reduces quality.
