How it works

01

Choose your file

Pick a supported file from your device or drop it into the tool.

02

Set the result

Choose the output, quality, or size options that matter for this job.

03

Convert and download

Your browser processes the file locally and prepares a fresh download.

01

Before you start

The file picker accepts: .3g2, .3gp, .avi, .flv, .m4v, .mkv, .mov, .mp4, .mpeg, .mpg, .ogv, .webm, .wmv, video/*. The contents and encoding of the file must also be supported; an extension alone does not guarantee compatibility.

The download uses the .mp4 extension. Keep the source until you have checked the result.

02

What to expect

The preset is a starting point for the named device or service. The service's current upload requirements and your particular device still matter. Try the exported file before deleting the source.

03

Limits to keep in mind

Encoding is CPU and memory intensive, especially on mobile and TV browsers.

Video is written as H.264 High 4.1 up to 1920x1080 with 48 kHz AAC audio.

Frequently asked questions

Is the file uploaded?+

File contents are processed on your device. The browser downloads the tools it needs, but does not upload your file to LocalConvert for conversion.

What if processing does not finish?+

Read the error shown by the tool. An unsupported format needs a different input; running out of memory may require a smaller file or a more capable device. Keep the tab open while the job runs.
